Welcome to Motorhome For Sale, where I've decided to post my...you guessed it...motorhome for sale. The downside of being a web developer is that I think of everything as an opportunity to build a website.

This motorhome has given my family some great memories and we want it to do the same for your family. If you are are a big family and have gone shopping for reasonably priced, used motorhomes, you've probably found that most are simply not very accommodating for large families.

This one is SPACIOUS as far as motorhomes go, and for that reason, it was perfect for us. If you're wanting to take a summer trip on a budget, this may be perfect for you, too.

We just took it cross country for a month last September for the road trip of a lifetime. We travelled from Nampa, Idaho to Maine, down the East Coast, through Washington D.C., into Virginia, and back. On the way, we replaced three tires and all the brakes for you. :-) This vehicle is reliable, in my opinion, and ready to hit the road for your summer vacation.

General Info

1985 33' Fleetwood Southwind.
Officially sleeps 6 or 7, but we fit 9.
Clean and in good mechanical condition.
Powerful 454 Chevy engine, runs excellent, starts the first time.

Features

Onan generator runs excellent. Worth over $5000 new just by itself. Push-button start from the dash or outside.
Engine doesn't overheat, even on steep grades.
76,000 miles, oil changed regularly.
Doesn't burn oil, good power.
Three new batteries (1 starter, 2 deep cell).
Good tires - three replaced recently.
Brakes replaced recently.
Two roof air conditioning units that work excellent, even in extreme heat.
Heater works great, even in extreme cold.
Refrigerator and freezer work great on reserve batteries or propane.
Microwave works great.
Stove and oven work great.
New stereo with USB charging port and auxiliary input for your iPod or MP3 player.
INCLUDED: New flat screen TV with DVD player.
Solid surface dash makes it easy to clean.
New roll-up blinds.
New curtains in master bedroom.
Plenty of storage inside and out.
Upholstery is in good condition. No major rips or tears.
INCLUDED: About 3/4 tank of gas and propane.
Too many extras to list!

Defects

Here is a list of all the defects I can think of.

The awning tore off in 70 MPH winds in Nebraska, so there's no awning. On the bright side, the motorhome handled well in the high winds!
Somewhere along the trip (probably the high winds in Nebraska?) the 2" wide decorative cowling that goes around the front passenger wheel well came off.
There is no roof antenna.
The power steering fluid leaks. I just keep some in a side compartment and add it every now and then.
There are two hoods on the front of the vehicle, and the top left hinge on the left hood is missing. It's currently held in place inconspicuously with wire, which has worked just fine.
It comes with a CB radio, but I don't know if it works.

Size and Space

The beauty of this motor home is not just about size–it's a large 33' rig–but layout. If you shop around at all for motorhomes, you'll find several different floor plan variations that are common. This one combined the spaciousness we needed so all nine of us could live in tight quarters for a month and come out of it alive!

Budget

As a self-employed guy with a rather large family, I didn't really like the idea of spending $10,000 to $20,000 on a motor home. (I've seen this model selling for $9500 on Craigslist.) We chose this particular vehicle because it matched perfectly with what we wanted to accomplish. We wanted a rig that would be reliable and large enough to fit us comfortably, but without breaking the bank.

Reliability

While this is not the newest motorhome on the block, it is a reliable rig. I would trust it for another cross country trip in a heartbeat, especially now that I've replaced a few tires and the brakes. :-) We've replaced all three batteries (one starting battery and two deep cell batteries), and it starts every time.

Benefits

With a motorhome you can stay at most Walmart Supercenters for free.
When you stay in motels and hotels, you pretty much have to eat out. With a motorhome, you can buy your food at Walmart and eat on the road for MUCH less money.
When free camping is not available, you can usually find an RV campground for $10 to $20 per night. Some of them even have Wi-Fi!
